Professor of Theatre Arts Outreach, Creative Dramatics and Dance, earned her BS in Physical Education from Hampton University, MA in Dance Education from George Washington University, and Ph.D. in Motor Development from University of Maryland. She teaches Movement for Actors, Arts Across the Curriculum, and directs the Young Peoples Touring Company. She is establishing a teaching, research, and service component of the Department of Theatre entitled The Center for Interdisciplinary Learning through the Arts. Previous positions have included teacher and dance company director at Duke Ellington High School for the Performing Arts, director of the Coppin Dancers at Coppin State University, Baltimore, Maryland and Coordinator of the Dance Program at Howard University in Washington D.C. She recently served as President of the National Dance Association. Her publications have appeared in Journal Of Mental Imagery, Journal Of Physical Education, Recreation And Dance, Cognition, Imagination And Personality, Journal Of Human Movement Studies and Dance: Current Selected Research. Her research interests are in the areas of mental imagery, dance education, and interdisciplinary learning. In 1996, she was honored to receive a Teacher Scholar Award from Michigan State University.
