Student Organizations

MSU Orchesis

  • Orchesis, a student organization working closely with dance and theatre faculty, welcomes all MSU students interested in dance to be members. The group’s mission is to enhance and enrich the presence of dance as an art form on campus. To fulfill this mission, Orchesis promotes numerous activities. Some examples include co-sponsoring guest artists, organizing student participation in American College Dance Festival, and offering non-credit technique classes.

S.P.A. (Society for Performing Arts) is in it's first year at MSU and can already boast a membership of over 50 students (both from within the Department of Theatre and beyond)! Though we are closely linked to the Department of Theatre, we support performing artists of all kinds. In our attempts to further educate in the arts we have successfully held several workshops in a variety of of areas (including: Musical Theatre; Comedy and Character; and Improvisation). And as always, the workshops are open to all- not just our members.

We are proud to also serve our members as a source of information and annoucements regarding Theatre Department activities, events, auditions, etc. Our list-serve is a great way to get or stay connected to what is happening in the arts.

We hope you too will find a home in us for your creative spirit to grow. So, we'd like to encourage anyone with an interest in the performing arts (whether on-stage or off; theatre major or no) to join our meetings, our workshops, and/or our list-serve.
